The police in the Khomas region have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly shooting and killing his wife with a pistol after an argument.

The incident occurred on Monday about 16h07 at Erf 1978 Omuvapu Street in Ombili. 

According to Khomas police spokesperson Silas Shipandeni, the husband allegedly shot the wife after a heated argument. 

He said the bullet allegedly struck the deceased in the stomach. She was rushed to hospital, where she was declared dead around 23h00.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Hilde Kondjeni.

The suspect was arrested, and is being detained at the Wanaheda police station.  

Meanwhile, another male person died instantly after he was stabbed to death on the neck at the intersection of Anemone and David Bezuidenhout Streets in Khomasdal, Windhoek on Monday.

Shipandeni said it is alleged that the suspect unlawfully and intentionally caused the death of another person by stabbing the deceased on the neck with an unknown object. 

The deceased is a 24-year-old Namibian man. The suspect is unknown at this stage, and no arrest has been made.
