WINDHOEK – Hyundai Namibia has joined hands with the country’s leading trap shottist and Commonwealth bronze medalist Gaby Ahrens by agreeing to sponsor the 32-year-old with a vehicle for usage over the next three years.

The agreement between the two parties was made official last week when Hyundai Namibia, through its sales manager Tersius Annandale, handed over a model ix35 SUV to the shottist.

“We as Hyundai Namibia are very proud to support Gaby, she is an excellent athlete and a true representative of our country and we strongly believe she will reach even greater heights in her chosen sport,” Annandale said.

The company has kept open the option to continue the sponsorship beyond 2016. “I want to thank Hyundai Namibia for the sponsorship and I’m very proud to be associated with Hyundai Namibia because the new vehicle will certainly make my life a lot easier,” said the two-time Olympian.

Ahrens is currently in North Africa to defend her title at the African Championships, which gets underway today in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
