WINDHOEK – The Hyundai 1 team won the Hyundai Paintball Challenge at the Action Arena in Windhoek last weekend.

A total of 7 teams entered the tourney, which proved a huge success for participants and spectators alike. The second place went to Africa Online, while SWAT had to settle for 3rd spot after three different disciplines. The teams went at it in the speedball category, where every team, consisting of a maximum of five players, went head-to-head on an obstacle course laid out by the Action Arena personnel. To win a point, a member of the team had to touch the opposition’s start station without being hit by either the opponents or their own teammates.

The Hyundai 1 team showcased their superior skill by taking out the opposition in spectacular fashion, while avoiding being hit themselves on numerous occasions. In the 2nd event, the teams had to overcome a tactical time trial aimed at doing a series of house clearances on the scenario field while being timed. “It was the first time we introduced the tactical time trial. It took a bit longer than we had anticipated, but it got a huge reception from the players,” said event organizer Werner Wormsbächer. Africa Online won this particular event with Hyundai 1 adrift in 2nd, while the players took to the shooting range where each team was given 60 paintballs to try and hit as many of the 25 targets as possible with one point awarded for each hit. This event was an all Hyundai affair as their 3rd team claimed 1st place while their team 2 finished 2nd with the first team trailing in 3rd place. It was however enough for Hyundai 1 to top the overall standings and win the event.
