Iconic Subaru brand re-enters Namibian market

Iconic Subaru brand re-enters Namibian market

The iconic Subaru brand has re-entered the Namibian market.

Having exited the domestic market many years ago, Subaru is making an aggressive domestic comeback – not only in Namibia but throughout the region.

Subaru Southern Africa is investing in new additions, such as new dealerships and new dedicated after-sales service offerings.

These additional investments are meant to enhance convenience and support for the growing Subaru community.

“We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of our new Subaru service centre in Windhoek, Namibia’s bustling capital. This facility offers top-notch Subaru servicing, repairs and parts availability for our customers in Namibia and surrounding areas. This new centre strengthens our commitment to serving Subaru owners across South Africa and neighbouring countries,” said Subaru Southern Africa marketing manager Nteo Nkoli.

Subaru’s top-of-the-range Forester STI offers 2.5i-S engine with an all-wheel drive powertrain.

This Subaru Sport features tuned front and rear dampers for a sportier driving experience that results in improved handling, that is both sharper and more responsive.

The Subaru company initially started as an aircraft research company, named Fuji Heavy Industries in 1915.

Soon after, they reorganised to become Japan’s chief aircraft manufacturer during World War II.

After the war, the company pivoted towards car manufacturing, thus creating the Subaru brand.

From 1954 to 2008, the company designed and manufactured dozens of vehicles, including the P1 (1954), tiny air-cooled 360 (1958), Sambar (1961), 1 000 (1965), R2 (1969), Domingo (1983), Alcyone (1985), Legacy (1989), Impreza (1993), Sambar EV electric van (1995), Forester (1997) and Tribeca (2005).

From the 1990s onwards, Subaru began expanding world-wide while also growing its range of vehicles, namely the Subaru Outback.

It made waves in the 1990s as a capable and more efficient alternative to large, truck-based SUVs.

Subaru also invested in technology. Early in the 2000s, Subaru vehicles made great advancements in safety.

The company introduced a horizontally opposed diesel engine that became widely used.

Subaru vehicles have earned a reputation as premium reliable vehicles, with excellent safety features and impressive technology, such as the Boxer engine and the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive System.
