Iileka takes Oshakati West’s challenges head-on

OSHAKATI – Newly sworn-in Oshakati West constituency councillor Ndilimeke Iileka said she will tackle persistent challenges in her community by prioritising access to roads, constructing earth dams, and implementing youth development projects, during her term in office.

Iileka, who was sworn in on 5 December last year, told Nampa in a recent interview that her priorities form part of the persistent challenges faced by her community, while growing up in the Oshakati West area.

“As a qualification holder in local government and also growing up in an area facing local challenges, motivated and influenced me to run for office and to see how I can tackle these challenges,” Iileka said.

These key challenges, according to the councillor, include the limited access to basic services, unreliable infrastructure, and youth unemployment.

“I plan to address the most pressing challenges faced by the residents by actively listening to the residents, prioritising the most urgent needs, working collaboratively to develop realistic long-term solutions and taking practical actions,” while maintaining open, consistent and transparent communication, she said.

“I will promote transparency, good governance and ethical leadership by leading with integrity, accountability and openness. I thank the residents of Oshakati West for the trust. I have accepted the responsibility with deep commitment to serve fairly. The mandate is not mine alone; it belongs to all of us; therefore, we should all work as a team,” she said.
