Namibia’s only female boxing promoter and owner of Iron Lady Boxing Promotions, Anita Tjombe, insists she is still and will remain the ‘queen of Namibian boxing’, despite an absence of almost three years from the local scene.
Tjombe established Iron Lady Boxing Promotions in 2012 and became Namibia’s first female to conquer the frontiers of local boxing but despite the historic move, she never got to sign any credible boxer under her stable.
In a brief interview with New Era Sport yesterday, Tjombe said her stable, Iron Lady Boxing Promotions’ absence from the boxing scene is partly to be blamed on the lack of sponsors and what she terms ‘unfair treatment’ from some local boxing top dogs.
“I’m still alive and kicking and that also goes for Iron Lady Boxing Promotions. I’ve mostly been spending time focusing on the affairs of Harry Simon’s upcoming fight, looking for potential sponsors and ensuring all logistics are in place for the fight,” she says.
“But obviously once everything is done and the fight is on, then I will hopefully have time to resuscitate affairs at Iron Lady Boxing Promotions and continue with business as usual. I still have big dreams of taking my stable to the next level and hopefully start dealing with international promoters for mega fights.”
Harry Simon will fight on September 26 against a yet-to-be announced Ugandan opponent in Windhoek .
