Rooted in his admiration for the fashion of the 80s and early 90s, renowned fashion designer Matheus Erastus of MN Creations recently showcased a 52-piece collection incorporating cuts and styles reminiscent of that era.
The collection of swimwear, street fashion infused with corporate elements, and avant-garde pieces, showcased his creative vision and diverse influences.
“We have a lot of laid-back
pieces too, with unique cuts and detailing,” he said proudly.
The collection featured a mix of fabrics, including cottons, silk
taffeta, cashmere, silky wool suiting, and Lycra, adding depth and texture to each ensemble.
All garments are now on sale on his social media platforms and can be made on order.
For Erastus, each piece was a reflection of his life experiences, emotions, lifestyle, and travels.
But before he finalised the designs and fabric choices for the collection, the designer first put much research into his type of clients and their style preferences.
“So, at first, I had to think of what I really wanted to put out there and for whom before coming up with the designs and fabric choices,” he said.
Describing his target clients for this collection, he highlighted its appeal to daring, independent, and bold individuals.
Asked how he felt about his showcase at Etcetera Art Café and Studio, Erastus said planning the fashion show without sponsorships or financial assistance was not easy, “but we managed, and the only major challenge was having to be both a planner and creative. But my support system is haven sent and so made everything possible”.
