Paula Mwandingi (29) pursued a degree in business management a few years ago, but the country’s job crisis prevented her from securing her dream job.

The situation thus pushed her to go and enrol with IUM, where she obtained an honours degree in education.

“Throughout the journey of me pursuing the education career, I used to teach learners who rented in our house and charged them a little amount to earn a living,” Mwandingi said.

When her husband saw her struggle, he worked very hard to raise funds, and built two private schools which will open early next year. There will be one in Ongwediva, and the other one in Windhoek.

Paula’s husband Shacks Mwandingi stated that it pained him so much to see his wife sitting at home with qualifications when he could do something to help.

He added that he is never happy seeing Namibian graduates stranded in the streets without jobs.

 “The private school is fully recognised by the government, and is going to offer day-care, grade zero and grade one,” he said.

The school is also going to be offering extra classes from grades 1 to 12, where they will employ fully qualified teachers to help in ameliorating the job crisis.

“I am asking residents of Khomas and Oshana and other regions to come through and apply for their children, because application forms are readily available,” Shacks said. 

He is also asking graduates from different universities who obtained degrees in education to come through and start applying for jobs.

Learners will be paying N$350 per subject for extra classes. Day care, grade zero and grade one will be N$1 050 per month.
