Letter - We will fight for ourselves

Desderius Shilomboleni

We have noticed how those who work by order without knowledge had to avert a peaceful demonstration this week, and it is sad to learn about how Namibians were forced to celebrate 33 years of suffering in a country that their grandparents fought for.

The Namibia Police officers, specifically the Special Field Force, should make peace with the fact that having a stable government job does not make them God’s favourite.

They should stop mocking and humiliating unemployed youth and think that the youth is too relaxed about changing their lives.

The majority of these youth hold diplomas and degrees that some of them did not acquire, and they could be the ones to sit in similar positions they are today.

Some of them have never entered a university unless they were ordered to go there and stop a peaceful demonstration; my question is, what makes them think the Namibian youth, especially unemployed graduates, are too irresponsible about their lives after all the effort they have made to pull it from grade zero to much higher levels?

A lot of them got those jobs by luck, and they now have the audacity to stop others from getting their voices heard.

They all better humble themselves and serve the nation to the best of their abilities and with humanity.

We need job opportunities, and it is time their commanders address them on what this means, instead of giving them mindless orders to humiliate innocent people and halt them from fighting for what belongs to them.

Everyone must and should eat!
