Nabta congress set for tomorrow

The Namibia Bus and Taxi Association will finally host its congress in Windhoek tomorrow. It was postponed due to internal fights.

According to the association’s secretary general Pendapala Nakathingo, Nabta has been facing many challenges, which has resulted in poor service delivery to its members and the public.

The organisation has also been beset by court cases such as the High Court case regarding the Rhino Park head office.

Nabta also has a pending case before the High Court with the newly formed Namibia Public Passenger Transport Association.

“Another challenge is the internal squabbles between executive members which have negatively affected the association and its entire membership. It is for this reason that Nabta was unable to hold its congress on time as it is supposed to be held after every five years,” explained Nakathingo in a press statement.

He noted the congress became a reality after fruitful deliberations between the national executive committee, preparatory committee and members at regional level.

“We, therefore, came to the final conclusion that only three representatives from the regional structures should attend per region, in order to give a fair chance and equal participation to members,” said Nakathingo.
