NamPower builds St. Barnabas hall

NamPower, in collaboration with Maurel & Prom, contributed N$1.6 million to the St. Barnabas Primary School for the construction of a much-needed school hall.

Maurel & Prom is an international oil company that specialises in the production of hydrocarbons.

The hall was inaugurated by Khomas governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua on Tuesday.

During the inauguration ceremony, McLeod-Katjirua expressed her delight at witnessing the fruition of this collaborative effort.

She emphasised the importance of investing in education and community infrastructure, stating, “This school hall is a symbol of progress, and it reflects the dedication of NamPower and Mural & Prom to uplift our communities. Education is the foundation of our future, and this investment will undoubtedly benefit generations to come”.

She added that the inauguration of the school hall and other institutional structures later in the week is testimony to the fact that St. Barnabas Primary School, when judged against humble beginnings 100 years ago, is growing in leaps and bounds.

The new school hall is expected to serve as a multipurpose facility, accommodating not only academic events but also cultural activities and community gatherings.

Furthermore, the building of the school was started by the school itself by requesting the parents to donate bricks.

According to NamPower senior manager Simeon Amunkete, NamPower is delighted to inaugurate the much-needed newly-built school hall for the St. Barnabas Primary School.

On Thursday, NamPower will hand over classrooms and a library at the same school.

“NamPower, through its foundation, has and continues to support worthy projects countrywide. It is worth mentioning that education receives the bulk of our funding, because it is one of the most important pillars,” he said.

The NamPower Foundation has been assisting the sector through infrastructural development and renovations, donation of computers, provision of stationery and furniture to schools and kindergartens in all 14 regions.
