The Normalisation Committee at the Namibia Football Association says the nominations for the elections of a new executive committee to run the affairs of the NFA are now open until Friday, 20 October 2023.
The Normalisation Committee (NC) via a media statement yesterday, said its mandate has progressed substantially, culminating in the final review of the proposed amended statutes and the electoral code for adoption by the members on 14 October 2023.
The statement added that 75% of the members present and eligible to vote accepted the two amended documents en bloc, save for some amendments, during the football federation’s 18th extraordinary congress, held at the NamPower Convention Centre in Windhoek.
“The adoption of the statutes and electoral code being one of the most important milestones of the mandate, the NC is now singularly focused on completing its final tasks before returning football definitively to its rightful owners, to finalise the restructuring of the administration, to act as the electoral committee, and to carry out the elections of the new leadership, to be elected by list on 17 November 2023,” the statement said.
The statement added that the new exco should ensure the protection of all the interests of football for many years to come and consider the ultimate objectives of improving the game of football, ensuring fair play, and its unifying, educational, cultural, and humanitarian values.
It urged members of the association to elect a team that will take over from the NC and lead the federation, supported by a stronger administrative team, and improved systems, policies and procedures.
“They will also have the support of the interim secretary general (Jochen Traut) until they appoint a substantive secretary general and have the opportunity to ensure that the staff is positioned to make their contribution for the long term by investing in their development and ensuring that they carry out the functions they have been appointed for with professionalism, dedication, and commitment,” the statement concluded.
