OSHAKATI - A 46-year-old security guard instantly died after he shot himself with his service pistol in Ondangwa on Wednesday.

According to Namibian Police spokesperson for Oshana region, Warrant officer Frieda Shikole, the man who has been identified as Josef Erastus, shot himself once in the head. 

“The deceased allegedly shot twice in the air and the third time he shot himself in the head,” said Shikole.

At the time of his death, Erastus was employed as a security guard at Falcon Security and the pistol he used belongs to his employer.

The incident occurred at Omahenene location in Ondangwa.

Shikole said Erastus next of kin have been informed of his death and police investigations are continuing. -Nampa
