SPYL condemns killing of Malaka at Rundu

RUNDU - The Swapo Party Youth League has in its strongest term condemned the killing of one of its members, 18-year-old Sipilikita Alpo Malaka, at Rundu last Friday.

Malaka was shot by an unknown man in the chest in the Millennium residential area at around 22h00.

SPYL secretary Ephraim Nekongo said in a media statement that they learned with shock about the passing of one of their own, whose life was cut short by those with motives to destroy communities.

“SPYL rejects in the strongest terms this kind of heartless killing, and we are calling on law-enforcement entities to invest all necessary resources and human capital available to ensure that the culprit is apprehended and faces the law,” he said.

Namibia, he added, is a peaceful country, and such behaviours should be condemned by all means and discouraged.

“On behalf of the SPYL rank and file, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the family and friends during this difficult time and beyond. May the almighty God give you all the strength you need,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Rundu residents on Thursday held a peaceful demonstration to protestagainst  the killing of Malaka.

They marched from the Millennium residential area to the police’s regional headquarters to submit their petition to the regional commander.
