Uncle held for repeatedly raping niece

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping his 12-year-old niece. The rape reportedly occurred within the Outapi constituency in the Omusati region. It is alleged that the minor was raped five times on different occasions. The matter was reported to the police last week Friday, leading to the arrest of the suspect. He is expected to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court today on charges of rape. According to the police investigations coordinator in Omusati, commissioner Moses Simaho, the suspect would occasionally lure the minor girl to his room. “It is alleged that the suspect, who is an uncle of the victim, used to call her to his room and raped her five times on different days,” he explained. Simaho said cases of rape, particularly against minors, have become too prevalent in the region, and warned perpetrators against defiling minors as it has permanent repercussions on their lives. He furthermore warned that violence against any human being is a crime, and that perpetrators will be prosecuted.
