US president Joe Biden has joined global leaders to extend condolences to former first lady Monica Geingos and the Namibian people on the passing of president Hage Geingob. 

President Biden has described Geingob as a fearless leader who dedicated himself to the fight for independence, and played a crucial role in drafting the nation’s constitution. Biden, in his message published on the official White House website, said Geingob was a powerful advocate for Namibia and Africa, and stood firm on his values. 

The United States, he added, will build on Geingob’s legacy to continue fostering partnerships and shared visions between the two countries.
