Home Sports Independence Boxing Bonanza date reshuffled

Windhoek

Contrary to earlier announcements, the highly anticipated Independence Boxing Bonanza which was initially scheduled for Saturday, March 19, has now been moved to Saturday, March 26.

However, the venue for the eagerly awaited boxing spectacle remains the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino.

“The postponement of this year’s bonanza is completely beyond our control. We booked the venue well in advance but unfortunately we were just recently informed by the management of the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino that the venue was no longer available for us on the date that was initially agreed upon, due to the KORA Awards. We tendered our understanding in this regard and decided to postpone the fight to the next weekend of March 26,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.

“We would therefore like to apologize to all boxing fans across the country who had already pencilled this date in their respective diaries. We wish to assure them that the fight will definitely take place on Saturday, 26th March.”

Namibia’s unbeaten World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Junior Welterweight champion Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo will headline the night’s proceedings when he defends his title against Tanzanian Allan Kamote over 12 rounds.

Tickets are already on sale at all Computicket outlets countrywide, with the general tickets costing N$100 each, while VIP tables seating ten people will cost N$10 000 each.

“We encourage all Namibians to come out in their numbers to support the event and also to celebrate Namibian sport.”
Besides the main fight between Indongo and Kamote, spectators will also be kept on the edge of their seats with seven other exciting fights. Here is the card for the night:
