Independence Horseracing Cup a resounding success

The Independence Horse Racing Cup proved to be a resounding success.

The event saw a strong turnout of racing enthusiasts at the Okahandja Turf on Saturday. 

Chantal Mouton, spokesperson of the Namibia Horseracing Association, expressed her delight at the success of the event. 

It showcased the region’s passion for horseracing.

In the 2 000-metre (m) Import A-Division race, Imperial Ruby emerged victorious, securing first place. 

Woodland Ridge from Junius Racing finished second, while Starlile from Okahandja Racing took third.

In the 1 600m Import Graduation race, Weerlig Mootu from Otjinene Supporters Club took the win, and Miraculous Man from De Waal Racing took second place.

Days of Thunder from Otjinene Supporters Club rounded out the top three.

Song of Angels, representing Ephat Racing, dominated the 1 800m Import D-Division race, claiming the top spot. 

Wondering Star from Khomas Turf Club came in second, and Mr Aminius from Harambee Racing secured third place.

In the 2 000m Nambred A-Division race, it was Professors Supporters Club Bin Laden who triumphed, with Boma from Harambee racing finishing in second place, and Prince from Professors Supporters Club taking third.

Mouton highlighted the generous support of sponsors Windhoek Airport Transfers, Tours and Rentals as well as JSB Bet, which contributed to the success of the event.

Looking ahead, the next horseracing event will take place on 12 April in Otjinene.
