Industry Loop – Radio presenters, you need more

Home National Industry Loop – Radio presenters, you need more
Industry Loop – Radio presenters, you need more

The reality is no single disciple will be enough to keep the lights on. You need a side hustle. Every financial consultant or motivational speaker preaches this – a side hustle that will get to a point where it equals or betters the money you get at your primary source of income.

Radio presenters in Namibia do not get the type of money South African radio stations pay. Needless to say, in Namibia, radio presenters get peanuts!

We know this right? So how is it possible that in 2023, we still have radio presenters who sit idle on platforms they do not own without investing in a proper side hustle? How is it that in 2023, we still have radio presenters who are so comfortable claiming ‘We are team A, B, C and D’ without understanding they can lose their job any freaking second?

How is it possible that in 2023, we still have radio presenters who look ‘ordinary’? Someone who speaks to hundreds and thousands of people every day or on weekends, and you are ordinary?

Speaking of ‘ordinary’, the ordinary man on the street, unfortunately, knows this. This is why radio presenters generally are not respected by society in Namibia. The greater Namibian population does not look at radio presenters and think ‘I want to be like him/her’. Imagine telling your kuku that you are about to marry a radio presenter. Good luck… LOL.

That narrative can change only if radio presenters start to consciously think of themselves as brands. That narrative can change only if radio presenters start to consciously understand that they are the side hustle.

Once radio presenters start taking themselves seriously, you will see the greater Namibian house looking at us and the craft with a different lens. Your livelihood depends on it.

– Touch up on your image

– Brand yourself

– Innovate

– Be conscious of your influence

– You need more

– It starts with yourself!

Until the next loop, we say #GMTM
