WINDHOEK – An Oshakati resident found himself in hospital after being brutally clobbered by members of the public for allegedly having murdered a 20-year-old man on Saturday night.

The suspect, whose name cannot be made public as he has not made his mandatory court appearance yet, is said to be receiving medical attention at Oshakati state hospital following the assault by the public for allegedly having committed murder.

According to Namibian police spokesperson Chief Inspector Kaunapawa Shikwambi the suspect is said to have inflicted a stab wound on George Tuutileni Shaningwa, 20, which resulted in his death on Saturday. 

Shikwambi said that Shaningwa was stabbed in the chest with a knife and succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. The incident took place at Sky location, Oshakati and police investigations are ongoing.

In an unrelated incident, the police reported the death of a 17-year-old boy who died at the hands of a 16-year-old girl on Saturday afternoon in Nuwerus, Aranos. Leticia Jaarse died instantly after he was stabbed with an Okapi knife. The motive behind the teenage girl’s action is unknown and police investigations are ongoing. 

The suspect is expected to make an appearance in court on a charge of murder. 
The police in Okakarara arrested a 50-year-old man, a resident of Orunahi , for having shot a 23-year-old man to death on Sunday. 

Kavehimbiraeua Karokohe was shot in his right shoulder with an unlicensed gun by the suspect which killed him instantly. 
It is alleged that the action was as a result of an argument over alcohol, according to Shikwambi. The shooting took place at a bar in the area. The 50-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court today. 

The police reported four other murders over the weekend in Epako, Otjimbingwe, Okahao and Okahandja. The suspects, ages 26, 17, 26 and 23, have all been arrested and are due to appear in court in their respective towns on murder charges. 
According to the police all four victims – Ransley Kharigub, 22, Karlos Ngairo, 19, Joseph Shapaka, 26 and Elrico Eiseb, 26 –l died instantly from stab wounds.
