Windhoek

For the 5th year in a row the Association of Diplomatic Spouses in Namibia (ADS) will hold an International Food and Craft Bazaar at the Franco Namibia Cultural Centre (FNCC) on Saturday.

ADS is a non-profit charity organisation established in 1990 by diplomatic spouses to help vulnerable communities.
Launching this year’s event, Mindy Daughton, the spouse of the US ambassador to Namibia said various embassies and diplomatic missions in the country would present exquisite culinary specialties from their countries.

Another attraction will be the unique arts, crafts and souvenirs from all corners of the world.
“The bazaar will be an incredible melting pot of diverse cultures intermingling with people from all walks of life. This is when the world meets Namibia and Namibians meet the world. You will smell exotic flavours and dance to different music together with performers from North, South, East and West,” says co-organizer Sanjee Goonetilake of Sri Lanka. The profits from this year’s bazaar will again go entirely to the the Namibia Women Protection Unit focussing on gender-based violence.

Last year, ADS renovated and refurbished the room of the investigation unit of the centre. They also donated sanitary packs and clothing for victims who seek help and end up at the centre.
