WINDHOEK – International Training College – Lingua (ITCL) and Green Enterprise Solutions (Green) continued their close working relationship regarding all things ICT during the first Annual ICT Week. The theme of the ICT Week was; “Creating Industry Partnership through Information Technology.” Kehad Snydewel, Managing Director of Green, delivered a keynote speech at Lingua’s event on; “Importance of IT in today’s world.” The three-day event creates a platform for the ICT industry, academia and students to discuss trends and challenges facing the industry globally and in Namibia.

Green is a Namibian company that provides Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Solutions for the Namibian market, as well as internationally across Africa. It relishes contributing to educational endeavours such as the ICT Week that Lingua College hosted. Broad topics were discussed and especially how students could benefit in the future from ICT in fields, sectors and topics as diverse as healthcare, our socio-economic activities, education, environment, banking and agricultural endeavours to name but a few.

Recently news was released that Namibia continues to improve its position on the Global ICT ranking index according to the United Nations report on ICT. According to Snydewel this of course is very encouraging and proof of the country’s commitment to becoming a digital and technologically innovative force to be reckoned with in Africa. He added that improving the rankings requires great determination and investment in education. A new ICT-savvy Namibian workforce needs to rise up and take the reins propelling Namibia technologically.

“We are excited to be part of the first ICT Week of International Training College – Lingua. We have been partners for years and commend the staff, students and the Institution for being so forward thinking and embracing ICT,” said Snydewel.

Ingrid Mettler Managing Director of ITCL said; “The Lingua ICT-Week will become an annual event with this year high school learners, the ICT Deputy Director at the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture attended as well key players within the IT industry. We hope and believe Green will   continue to support this great event and initiative and further develop the field of ICT in Namibia.”
