IPC wins in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay

The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) on Monday night emerged the leading party in the Swakopmund and Walvis Bay constituencies in the latest results from the 2024 general elections.

The party secured 12 864 and 10 181 votes respectively in the two constituencies.

Swapo meanwhile dominated the Outapi constituency with 17 659 votes, according to figures from the Electoral Commission of Namibia’s (ECN) mobile app at 23h24 on Monday.

Swapo’s Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah led with 249 158 votes in the Presidential election, followed by IPC’s Panduleni Itula with 126 935 votes, and Bernadus Swartbooi of the Landless People’s Movement with 29 164 votes.

ECN chairperson Elsie Nghikembua provided an update on Monday night, confirming that results from 81 constituencies had been released for the Presidential election, while 80 constituencies had released their National Assembly election results.

“As you might be aware, on 29 and 30 November 2024 we had an extension of the polling period at some polling stations. The results of the extended voting were counted and have been announced separately at these polling stations.

However, for the purposes of tallying, these results were added to the results of the same polling stations with those of 27 November 2024 in the presence of party agents,” Nghikembua said. -Nampa
