The 11th edition of the Africa International Sports Convention kicked off in Dakar, Senegal on Wednesday and ends today, with one of its highlights being the induction ceremony into the Africa Sports Hall of Fame.
The prestigious event recognises outstanding African athletes and sports leaders for their contributions to the continent’s sporting excellence.
Namibian Paralympic athlete Lahja Ishitile was among those honoured for her remarkable achievements over the past year.
In 2024, Ishitile made history by winning gold in the women’s T11 400-metre event at the Paris Paralympic Games, becoming only the third Namibian Paralympian to achieve this feat. She also set a new personal best and African record in the T11 200m event during the same competition, further cementing her legacy in the sport.
