A terrible butterfingered catch by young Malawian goalkeeper Ackimu Phiri gave South Africa’s Amajimbos an easy passage to the final of the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Youth Cup at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Katutura, near Windhoek yesterday.
After a goalless first half which saw the young South Africans dominating every aspect of the game, Amajimbos came out firing on all cylinders after the changeover and were soon in front after Lebogang Moloto’s tame grass-cutter slipped underneath the diving body of Phiri, before the ball trickled into the net for what was going to be the only goal of the match.
The enterprising Moloto, a Bidvest Wits protǟ
