IUM students denied diplomas over outstanding fees

Home National IUM students denied diplomas over outstanding fees

WINDHOEK – The International University of Management (IUM) has allegedly refused to give some of the graduates their diplomas apparently due to outstanding fees, while others were given theirs without any complications.

“My girlfriend completed her National Diploma in Human Resources last year, and this year she enrolled for an Honours Degree in Human Resources but to our surprise, when she wanted to get her diploma they told her she owed money, referring to the current course she is enrolled for,” said Brian Nyambe on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Nyambe said when he tried to find out why last year’s course which was paid for in full has to be linked to this year’s studies he was told by an unnamed person that IUM has changed its policies and therefore cannot hand over any certificates, diplomas or degrees to people with outstanding fees irrespective of whether their previous course fees were settled.

When contacted for comment, IUM spokesman Meke Nambili said she was not aware of the issue.

She said she has to consult other officials and would respond immediately but, however, her phone went unanswered when contacted.
