JAC Motors expands local presence

JAC Motors Namibia continues to make inroads with local consumers as it steadily increases its domestic market share. All it takes for confirmation of the increasing popularity of the brand is a look at Namibian roads where JAC bakkies are becoming increasingly visible.

Now, to entice local consumers even more, JAC Motors is offering a payment holiday on its popular T9 model, which retails for about N$650 000. The payment holiday, which allows consumers to buy the T9 now and only start paying it off in 2025, will ensure consumers have more cashflow available for the approaching festive season.

Make no mistake, manoeuvring JAC’s luxurious range-topping T9, 5.3m long x 1.96m-wide, bakkie in Windhoek’s central business district is no easy task. However, as with any vehicle’s dimensions, you soon get used to handling the size the more you drive it.

Overall, the large and powerful double-cab T9 bakkie is filled with an impressive array of safety and comfort features perfect for Namibia’s excellent roads as well as the country’s wide open rural and unpaved spaces. There is no doubt that the T9 makes an immediate impact as its exceptional build quality is backed up with a very plush interior, a strong specification list, decent performance, outstanding fuel economy and probably most importantly, an attractive retail price.

“The T9 is propelled by 125kW of power and 410Nm of torque. Its 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, mated to a very smooth and somewhat shift-happy eight-speed automatic transmission, is the star of the show in our humble opinion,” said JAC Motors Namibia sales manager, Karl-Heinz Eisenberg.

It is common knowledge that fuel efficiency is determined by driving style. Surprisingly the JAC T9 offered 10.4 litres for every 100km for city driving, and this dropped to an impressive 7.8 litres per 100km on the open road.

“Along with a payload of
1 000kg, the JAC T9 has a towing capacity of 3 500kg, a number not offered on all budget-friendly bakkies,” Eisenberg added.

Meanwhile, the T9’s aggressively-styled front grille with vertical chrome slats and flat xenon headlights are complemented by eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome door handles and mirror caps.

Notably one of the best features of the T9 is the 10.4-inch touch screen infotainment system.

The new T9 JAC bakkie comes as standard with features such as automatic xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, tail lamps and fog lights.

Additional standard features include six airbags, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, electronic stability control, hill assist and ABS with a brake override system, electronic brake-force distribution as well as tyre-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera to ensure safety.

JAC Motors, which boasts more than 70 dealerships across southern Africa, recently rolled off its 300 000th bakkie from the production line. While it took 13 years to get to the
200 000th bakkie, it took less than two years for the next 100 000 as sales were propelled by exports to 132 countries.

Last year JAC sold 55 000 bakkies of which around 42 000 were exported. In fact, the brand’s international sales were up almost 10% year-on-year. As of the end of April, JAC bakkie sales world-wide this year so far stood at approximately 18 200.
