As widely speculated, dethroned MTC Premiership champions Black Africa this week announced the appointment of Woody Jacobs as head coach with immediate effect on a two-year contract.

Following an intensive recruitment process, where various coaches were subjected to a comprehensive interview process, the outcome of the interview panel was unanimous in giving Jacobs the thumps up as the most suitable candidate for the vacancy of head coach of the four-times champions.

“We have entered into a two-year substantive employment contract with coach Jacobs and without divulging the terms and conditions, the contract involves dynamic performance indicators. The executive management team of Black Africa has pledged to render our coach and his dynamic technical team the necessary support and assistance to achieve the immediate objectives.

The club has retained their highly experienced assistant coach, Otto Landsberg, to deputise Jacobs in the vibrant and dynamic championship environment of BA. “We are also looking at strengthening our technical team and will make a surprise announcement in due course, “ Boni Paulino, chairman of Black Africa said.

The former BA toe-poking goal poacher added that Jacobs is a new entrant into the octane-charged championship culture of the success-laden Gemengde outfit

“Our immediate and urgent objective is to regain the championship glory Namibian football-lovers have become accustomed to. For BA to reclaim the MTC/NPL Premiership title will be no big deal, because we know exactly what we need to do to achieve this objective,” Paulino said.

“It is a great honour for me to be part of this great BA brand. I’ve followed Black Africa closely since my childhood and I was always impressed with the club’s on-and-off the field performance and brand management,” chirped an enthusiastic Jacobs.

Jacobs, who led African Stars to league glory last season, added that BA is without doubt Namibia’s most successful and coveted football brand, as it has won the most league and cup titles over the years, especially during the 70s, 80s and 90s.

“Having surrendered the MTC Premiership last term is something my dynamic technical team and I would like to restore as a matter of urgency; and if this is the expectation of our supporters, the players, management and BA’s sponsors, this, in my opinion, would be a reasonable and fair expectation.”

Black Africa is in full swing with its pre-season preparations and has lined up a comprehensive programme to engage in pre-season matches to be announced in due course. In conclusion, BA supremo and local business mogul, Ranga Haikali, on behalf the entire family of Black Africa, welcomed Jacobs to BA, wishing him the very best of luck in the 2015/2016 football season.
