Jamaican three-time 100m world champion and double-Olympic champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, will today be in Gobabis in the Omaheke Region, where she will meet the town’s various councillors and the region’s Governor Festus Ueitele, among other dignitaries.

Fraser–Pryce is in Namibia on a weeklong countrywide tour, which aims to inspire upcoming athletes in the country. She arrived on Tuesday and immediately started her interaction with various cabinet ministers and the general public for the better part of yesterday in Windhoek.

Omaheke Region is one of the regions earmarked for her visit, where she will visit schools and athletics clubs, while also interacting with the community and aspiring athletes on the importance of education and constantly following their dreams as athletes.

Besides the various activities already organised by the Gobabis Town Counci, the Jamaican sprint ace will also be taken on game drives at some of the best game farms in the region, where she is to be shown the different game species and generally what Namibia has to offer, tourism-wise.

After Omaheke, Fraser-Pryce will later tomorrow head for the Kunene Region where she will carry out the same activities of interacting with learners, athletes and the community.

The tour concludes with a visit to both Swakopmund and Walvis Bay in the Erongo Region.
