Jericho to release 7th album on birthday

Award-winning artist Jericho Gawanab is preparing to launch his seventh album on his birthday, 3 May, at The Catch in Windhoek.

The release of the album titled “The Signature” follows a three-year hiatus since his last studio album. With a compilation of 16 tracks, the album is a fusion of genres, blending new-school and old-school sounds.

“J-Twizzle”, as he is affectionately known for his innovative approach to music and his ability to captivate audiences with his unique style, is excited to share his latest work with fans.

The album launch is expected to be a celebration of his talent and creativity, drawing music enthusiasts from across the country.

Jericho describes the album as a beautiful fusion of carefully-selected sounds, artists and chemistry, reflecting his artistic vision and creative expression. Fans can expect an exciting and diverse musical experience from his upcoming offering.

“I have collaborated with various artists, both upcoming and old-school partners. Sjali Dre is my new artist, and I am introducing her on a song called “Without You”.  She’s hot as fire with her vocals. I also worked with Dixon, Cassidy Karon, Page Ethnix, Yeezir, Jaliza, Dice, Vuurman, Sunnyboy, Keynote and XT Namibia, just to mention a few.”

He said the inspiration behind the album comes from a “happy and sad place, but mostly positivity”, and is for everyone to have fun.

“I didn’t want to drop a heavy-hearted album since I have so much to say, but the idea was to express the current mood and stamp a mark on my legacy. It’s a signature, and a great addition to my catalogue,” he noted.

Jericho added that each song has its own feel, and he never had a problem with songwriting, since he always wrote about things he related to or knew about. Production-wise, he always works with the best, and makes time for new producers as well.

“I couldn’t have made it this far without Leo, who has other beats from Otjiwarongo. Procliff has been around me ever since Otavi. Zesh Domingo from Jesus Centre has always had my back, and is one of the best producers. Mali Notez from Okahandja is very talented as well. The legendary Mr Gro is a well-respected producer who touched on the album, and Elvo “Mr Mavovo” did the final mixing and mastering,” he said.

His favourite song on the album is called “Hope”, and revolves around his family issues, the doubt he was subjected to, and people looking down on him from the days he was down. Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build among loyal fans, as Jericho prepares to celebrate his birthday and share his new music with the world.

The album launch is sure to be a memorable event, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Jericho’s illustrious music career.

Entrance is N$70.
