Eight-year-old Russell Josephat continued to fly Namibia’s flag high after securing an impressive second-place finish at the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) Rand Kart Club Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday.
Josephat, also known as RJ63, finished behind Venter Ronald, who claimed the top spot.
Reddy Raidyn took second place with 94 points.
Josephat amassed a total of 92 points, just 13 points behind winner Ronald and two points shy of Raidyn.
Speaking to this publication from South Africa, his father JP Josephat expressed satisfaction with the results.
“We made a small mistake in the last heat, causing him to pick up a lot of rubber to secure second place,” he said.
Building on this success, JP stressed the need to fine-tune their approach.
“I think every result depends on how much you practise. His performance has shown us that we need to spend more time on the track improving those small errors,” he added.
