WINDHOEK- After a pause of three weeks, the 4th and last knock-out stage in the Joyful Sounds Choir Competition is this Sunday at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN).
Competing in this stage are The Mission Work Youth Choir, consisting of a vibrant group of young adults from various corners of Namibia. It was founded by the Mission Work Church in 2004 with the aim of preaching the word of God and drawing the youth towards Christ through music. Bella Voge is a relatively recent addition to the vast range of existing Namibian choirs. They consist of close to 20 members and they chose this name, meaning beautiful voice in Italian, confident that theirs are beautiful voices and suited to bring peace to the hearts and souls of the troubled.
The Adoration choir has a longer history. It was founded seven years ago. All these years they have been has collaborating with international artists like Patrick Duncan and Uche from the celebrated South African Joyous Celebration Choir, with Sipho Makabane, also from South Africa and with local Gospel and jazz artist Esme.
Three winning choirs from the first to third knock-out stages have already made it to the semifinals. The winner on Sunday plus two ‘wild cards’choirs who lost in the four knock-out stages will join the respective winners of the first, second and third stages, Poly Choir, Soli Deo Gloria and the Big K’s Choir for the semi finals on November 9 and 16. Three groups would then advance to the grand finale on November 21. The Joyful Sounds Choir Competition is proudly sponsored by Vigo and the FNB Foundation. The NTN and the NBC are partners. NBC television will be filming the semi-finals and finals in November for broadcasting. Tickets for the last knock-out stage on Sunday is N$ 60 apiece and are available at Computicket outlets and at the National Theatre of Namibia. Doors open at six O’clock (18h00) and the show starts at seven O’clock (19h00).
