Jullie-Ann Schuster sprints to success

Hard work, resilience and passion define Jullie-Ann Schuster, the 2024 Namibia Schools Sport Union U/19 100 metres and 200 metres champion.

She was recently awarded a scholarship worth N$20 000 for her outstanding performances.

As a dedicated track star and grade 11 student, she has faced many challenges.

However, Schuster remains committed to excelling in both academics and sport.

Her journey has been one of perseverance, balancing rigorous training with her studies while overcoming financial hardships.

Her love for running started at a young age.

Her mother, Binah Schuster, recalls a defining moment on their family farm when a young Schuster outran a cow chasing her, an early sign of her incredible speed.

By six, she had already claimed her first Junior Victor Ludorum title at Origo Primary School, setting the stage for an impressive athletic career.

Today, she dreams of becoming one of Namibia’s most well-known athletes, training hard to reach new heights while also inspiring others to do the same.

Receiving the scholarship has been a life-changing moment for Schuster and her family.

With financial challenges at home, this support will help cover her education and sport-related expenses, providing her with greater opportunities to pursue her dreams.

“This scholarship is an amazing blessing,” she said.

“I will use it to the best of my ability for my future. I truly appreciate it,” she added.

Her mother said the scholarship has provided much-needed relief.

“For years, we have done it on our own. This support lifts a great burden and allows Schuster to focus on her career. May the Frank Fredericks Foundation continue their good deeds to help more children achieve their dreams,” she remarked.

With resilience, determination and the right support, Schuster is well on her way to leaving a lasting mark in athletics.
