A total of 20 young participants joined the second Junior Coaches Clinic at the Basketball Artists School (BAS) in Windhoek recently and were taught basic basketball fundamentals and life-skills.
“We had around 40 applications, but as we actively involve participants from beginning to end, we can only take 20 participants per clinic,” said project coordinator and NBF secretary general Ramah Mumba, who conducted the clinic alongside DOSB expert Frank Albin.
After four days of hard work, participants received certificates, equipment and the official polo shirt.
NBF President Andrew Masongo joined the ceremony and encouraged the young coaches to appreciate all what they have learned and take care of the equipment they received.
Special awards were also given to Melusi Linda for Best Practical Session, Wilika Mutota (Best Teaching Skills) Nathan José Wambo (Best Junior Coach Potential) and Nina Simao (Best Junior Coach Performance).
Four junior coaches from Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region joined participants from Khomas for the gathering.
The clinic forms part of the project ‘Free Throw – Basketball Artists against HIV & AIDS’, which is run by the Namibian Basketball Federation, the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
