Namibian striker Elmo Kambindu was yesterday announced as one of the 16 players that have joined South African DStv Premiership side Chippa United.

The club officially confirmed the 29-year-old Namibian’s arrival on its website yesterday, saying the striker joins Tanzanian international Abdi Banda, Sipho Chaine, Justice Chabalala, Trevor Matome Mathiane, Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Sirgio Kammies, Azola Ntsabo, Aviwe Mqokozo, Khanyisile Mayo, Diego Appollis, Shaquille Abrahams, Siseko Manona, Yurrig Conwood, Zanoxolo Mduli and Nkosikhona Dube.

Kambindu, who previously played for local side Mighty Gunners and Mozambican premiership side Costa do Sol, was more recently on the verge of joining forces with DStv Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United but the deal did not materialise.

The latest Chippa United move comes as a much-needed impetus for Kambindu, who has been eager to leave his footprints on the South African premiership.

The player’s representatives Olsen Kahiriri of the Kahiriri Labour & Sports Legal Consultancy and his partner Charles Domingos of Futuro Stars Agent Group, also confirmed the move and said it was another great opportunity for Kambindu to further bolster his career.

“We are happy to confirm the move, it will be great for him and his career. It’s now up to him as an individual to make sure he utilises this opportunity and creates even more chances. It was possible through the efforts of myself and my partner Domingos, and I’m happy that the club has shown interest and is ready to create memories with this talented player. It’s good for Namibia and for him as a player,” said Kahiriri.

The skilful striker, who boasts 23 caps and eight goals for the Brave Warriors, will also be joining compatriot and leading Brave Warriors goalie Lloyd Kazapua at Chippa United.
