The National Assembly on Wednesday approved the re-appointment of Junias Etuna Kandjeke as Auditor General by President Hifikepunye Pohamba for a further period of five years.
Kandjeke was re-appointed after Prime Minister Nahas Angula introduced the motion on Tuesday to the National Assembly.
The 45-year-old Kandjeke is now expected to serve as the auditor general of the country until 2013.
The appointment of Kandjeke, who is the second auditor general of Namibia, at the time caused a lot of controversy as some sectors of the society felt that he lacked the qualifications and experience to replace the first auditor general Fanuel Tjingaete.
However, over the years Kandjeke has appeared to be doing an excellent job and has received praise from certain quarters.
Kandjeke was born on October 29, 1963, in the Omusati Region. He attended primary school at Onakaheke and Okahao, and proceeded to Ongandjera Secondary School.
From 1980 to 1989 he participated in the liberation struggle, in exile, led by SWAPO of Namibia.
He has also served as Chief Planning Officer in the Department of Logistics of SWAPO in Luanda, Angola.
In 1983, he was seconded to the Office of the Vice-President of Botswana for nine months by the United Nations Institute for Namibia.
He studied for a BA Degree in Financial Economy in the former East Germany and has a diploma in Development Studies from Zambia.
Kandjeke is married to Kaarina Naapopye Kandjeke, a teacher. They have three daughters and two sons.
