It was a loving and bonding affair for children who attended an hour of storytelling at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) library on Saturday as storyteller Elmarie Kapunda read stories of love and bonding as part of the craze and fad of the weekend, with Sunday being Valentines’ Day.

One of the stories was about a girl with seven hearts and the different messages she sends to her loved ones to show them how much she loves and appreciates them in her life.

She gave her brother a heart that says ‘Joy’ for him to always be happy, ‘Provider’ for her father because he is always there for their family, and ‘Patient’ to her neighbours who always help her.

Children talked about how they related to the story and what they would do for their loved ones on Valentine’s Day. They also shared ideas about how they were going to spend Valentine’s Day.

Kapunda says it has never mattered how old a child is, they are inquisitive little creatures, who always want to know what every little detail in life means and with love it is no different.

“The story told to them was about being thankful to those in your life. Some of the kids understood that love is different but its power to change is inevitable,” she says.
