A devastating bombshell has hit the entire town of Rehoboth following the sad departure of one of the most recognisable figures in the southern town’s Baster community. The bulky Karl ‘Kat’ Freygang, was a multi-talented athlete, excelling equally well in both the football and rugby disciplines. He died from cardiac arrest. May his soul rest in power.
Boeta ‘Kat’ was a valuable squad member of the star-studded Flames FC, manning the goalposts for the Rehoboth outfit, rubbing shoulders with greats such as Bertus Damon, Bryan Greaves, Harold Olivier, Theo Bester, and many other phenomenal footies from that neck of the woods.
The Karasburg born lad also chased the oval ball in equal measures, playing competitive rugby for the town’s leading rugby giants Rehoboth Rugby Club. A Jack of all trades, the strongly built multi gifted athlete took a leading role with the usually smooth organisation of equestrian sport in Rehoboth and Kobos. He was the proud owner of few thoroughbred racehorses.
In the meantime, waves of touchy messages of condolences are pouring in for the likeable socialite, whose sudden death has stunned the entire community of Rehoboth and far afield.
“Yes, what a Big Cat, you posted this amazing picture yesterday. Did u perhaps greet us showing us that everything was alright?. Your death came as a big shock, we will certainly miss you not only Rehobothers but the entire Namibia. We will miss your goodies, rest in peace big man. To Des and children, we are sorry for your loss and can’t imagine your pain in this dark hour of need, lean on us as much as you need during this difficult period. Just be strong and stay at the feet of the Mighty Lord, he will give you the much needed strength to soldier on and get through the trauma,” reads a brief statement on the Rehoboth Rugby Club website.
