The John Muafangejo Art Centre (JMAC) is to host the Biannual Student Exhibition at the John Muafangejo Art Gallery in Katutura. It starts next Tuesday and will run until July 24, it was announced in a press release this week. The exhibition will be opened at 18h30 on Tuesday the 4th of July by the chairperson of the new organisation for visual artists in Namibia, VA-N, Alpheus Mvula, who is also a former student of JMAC. “The exhibition showcases artworks from the first-, second- and third-year students of the year 2005. We take a look at the artworks accomplished during regular classes as well as during workshops in the various mediums of printmaking, textile printing, ceramics, drawing and painting. For the students this exhibition offers an opportunity to experience the process of exposure to public opinion as well as to help them to cover their tuition costs,” said artist Nickey Marais.
