African Connection (AC) Boxing Promotions is set to host its first event of the year later this month, with veteran fighter Walter Kautondokwa marking his much-anticipated return to the ring.
The boxing bonanza will be headlined by the stable’s top prospect, Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo.
Charles Shinima and Kautondokwa will also be in action.
Kautondokwa is set to face Liberty Muwani in a six-round lightweight bout.
Speaking about his return, the seasoned boxer expressed excitement and eagerness to give fans the exciting performance they have been waiting for.
“It’s been a while since I stepped into the ring. I wanted to fight last year – but due to technical issues beyond our control, the deal fell through. But finally, this time around, I will be making my comeback,” he said.
Kautondokwa last fought in 2019, suffering a loss to Kazakhstan’s Kanat Islam.
Now, he is determined to bounce back and showcase his abilities.
“I’ve been in the gym, training hard, and making sure I’m in shape. I am physically and mentally ready. I promise my fans an explosive performance,” he added.
Meanwhile, Immanuel AC Moses, the founder of AC Boxing Promotions, revealed that the stable will now be managing Harry Simon Junior.
Speaking on the decision, Simon Jr. said that before turning professional, Moses was in his corner.
It felt right to reunite with the coach who taught him the foundations of boxing.
“It’s a new chapter in my career and life – one that I am grateful for. The move was not complicated at all. When I first joined MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing Academy, the first coach I worked with was Moses. He taught me a lot of technical skills,” Simon Jr. said.
“Looking ahead, I’m happy with the new team. I hope to achieve greater heights with them,” he added.
At the same event, the unbeaten Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo will face one of his toughest tests yet when he takes on Ajoma, a seasoned fighter boasting a record of 23 fights, 20 wins, two losses and one draw.
Despite Ajoma’s experience, Nangolo remains unfazed and confident in his abilities.
“I don’t know much about my opponent, but I’m ready to take him down. Everybody acts tough until they get punched in the face. I doubt he’s as good as people say. I’ll take him down easily,” he said.
General tickets are pegged at N$350, while tables are going for N$15 000.
The bout will be held in remembrance of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma.
