KAHENGE – An adult Namibian man, Sipirangi Romanus Usuka, lost his life on Monday after a tree he was cutting fatally fell on him at Kahenge village in the Nkurenkuru district of Kavango West.
“The sad incident occurred on Monday afternoon at around 13h00, where Sipirangi Romanus Usuka, who hails from Ngone village in the Kavango East region, died from the tragic accident at Kahenge village in Nkurenkuru constituency,’’ said the police report.
It is alleged the victim and other two men were cutting down a tree when a branch fell on him and killed him instantly.
The victim’s remains were transported to the Nankudu state mortuary, pending an autopsy.
His next of kin have been informed, and police are investigating the circumstances.
In a different report from Kavango West. The Namibian police recorded a case of common assault, read with the Domestic Violence Act, which happened on Thursday at an unknown time during the night when a 75-year-old woman was assaulted by her 36-year-old biological son at Bunya village, Kapako constituency.
It is alleged the suspect took a box of eggs and hit his mother in the face, causing bruises.
He grabbed the mother and pushed her on the ground, resulting in her sustaining bruises on her knees and he further insulted her.
The suspect was arrested and was due to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
