GROOTFONTEIN – //Kharas Region conquered Omaheke 3-1 on penalties to win the fifth edition of the Skorpion Zinc U/17 Cup at Omulunga Stadium in Grootfontein yesterday, following a goalless 120 minutes match.

Host Otjozondjupa region took third place. The shootout saw Mekere Nganjone scoring the only penalty for Omaheke while Armando Isaacks, Marcel Maans and Ibrahim Appolus were all on target for //Kharas.

Earlier, Otjozondjupa beat Erongo Region 1-0 in the third place playoff to clinch bronze. Ulpianus Amseb scored the only goal of the match to take his tournament tally to eight goals.

In the individual prizes, Kavango West got the Fair Play award (N$ 2000); Anton Kanyetu got the Match Official of the Tournament award (N$ 2000); Ulpianus Amseb of Otjozondjupa Region took home N$3000 for the Golden Boot award for his eight goals. Omaheke goalkeeper Vejora Katjatenja walked away with the Best Goalkeeper accolade and N$ 3000.
The Most valuable Player of the Tournament was Dandre Both from //Kharas and he took home N$4000. Otjozondjupa and Erongo each received N$7000 for finishing third and fourth respectively while Omaheke received N$15000 and silver medals. The winners //Kharas pocketed N$25000 and gold medals.
