WINDHOEK – With Namibia set to host the 9th edition of the CAF African Women Championship this weekend, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Khomas Galz & Goals U/13, 15 and 17 leagues came to an exciting conclusion on Friday, October 3, 2014.
The leagues, which are hosted at the NFA Technical Centre, as usual drew a large crowd of players and parents to crown the champions for 2014. Swallows FC won the U/13 League, followed by A.I. Steenkamp Primary School with Katutura Football for Hope Centre in third place.
The U/15 League was won by Emma Hoogenhout Primary School, with the Katutura Football for Hope Centre and the Pumpkins finishing in second and third places. Emma Hoogenhout Primary School further secured the gold trophy in the U/17 League while the Pumpkins got the silver trophy.
In addition, the teams took part in life skills games facilitated by SCORE Namibia, as part of the healthy lifestyle focus of Galz & Goals. UNAIDS was present with the Protect the Goal Campaign and representatives from UNICEF, GIZ and SPAR attended the final day of the league, as partners of NFA Galz & Goals.
The final 7-a-side matches were played on the NFA Technical Field and the excitement lasted until Friday.
