Over the weekend, the Khomas Netball Association held a mixed tournament at Patrick Iyambo netball courts, and the organisers have hailed the tournament as a huge victory.

“The tournament was a success and saw 11 teams take part. The purpose of the tournament was just to have fun and celebrate talent. The Khomas Netball Region has made history; we are the first region to host a mixed tournament, and we have been and continue to be the front runners of innovation,” Elizabeth Max, the Khomas Netball public relations officer said.

According to Max, the tournament was aimed at celebrating talent and networking among the relevant stakeholders.

She said this is the first time any region has hosted a competition of that kind, and they intend to do more of them.

The competition was won by Gomonate Fela, followed by Afrocat Lions and Rehoboth in third place.

In terms of how tight the competition was, she said it was quite intense as the teams took the tournament very seriously. “It was a very competitive tournament, although it was not that serious. All the teams came out and showed up like they were taking part in a league, but overall it was good,” she said.
