Khomas Nampol open season with win

The FNB Women’s Super League kicked off in Walvis Bay at the Jan Wilken stadium with an exciting encounter between Khomas Nampol FC Ladies and Desert Foxes FC.

Khomas Nampol secured a convincing 3-0 victory. Speaking after the match, Khomas Nampol coach Novata Paulus congratulated Desert Foxes, praising their fighting spirit.

She noted that, if they continue with the same determination, they have a promising future.

Paulus admitted she was not impressed with her team’s first-half performance, which ended goalless.

However, after a half-time team talk, Khomas Nampol came back stronger in the second half. Helena Shuumbwa opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by goals from Fiina Katina in the 62nd minute and Penomwaameni Tomas in the 75th minute.

Khomas Nampol will face V-Power in their next fixture, with Paulus hopeful her side can secure another win and collect maximum points.

Desert Foxes coach Baron Brown said the result was disappointing for his side, especially as it was their opening match of the season.

He noted that his team managed to contain their opponents in the first half but struggled to maintain the same intensity after the break.

“It’s not the result we wanted, but we tried our best. We are a young team playing against a more experienced side, and I am proud of the girls. We will go back to the drawing board and see how we can improve,” Brown said.

Desert Foxes will face Mighty Gunners Ladies next.
