Khomas Netball awards top performers …Golden Girls win league 

The Khomas Netball League over the weekend crowned winners of various league divisions. 

 Golden Girls were crowned winners of the Super 10 booking tickets to the playoffs.  

The well-organised event was held on Saturday at Wanderers Sport Ground,  Pioneer Park, in the capital.  

Super 10 Champions Golden Girls top finish earned them a place in the national playoffs of the MTC Netball Namibia Premier League, where they will battle it out for a place in the premier league. 

Jacky Ortman, the coach of Golden Girls, shared that she was delighted to have won the title. 

“It has been a long time coming. We have always wanted to be part of the topflight league. We are a step closer to realising that dream. I know its not going to be a walk-in park, as we have to face other champions from other regions. I am sure that we could get the job done again,” she said.

In other categories, some of the top winners included, Golden Girls, the second team winning the first division category. 

They gained promotions to the Khomas Super 10. 

 This after they dominated the first division.  

Meanwhile, in the second division, City of Windhoek were crowned champions followed by Tura Magic, who all gained promotion to the first division.  

Also speaking at the same event, Dimitri Bittler, the league coordinator, thanked teams and everyone involved in ensuring the league went smoothly.  

He added that the league will next season consist of 12 teams not the usual 10 teams. 

“The Super 10 will now be called the Super 12 come next season.  We are adding up two teams to take the total to 12 teams. This will being intense competition within the league,” he said.
