The Khomas Football Region Second Division has elected a five-member interim committee to manage football matters and represent them at the upcoming Namibia Football Association (NFA) extra ordinary congress.
During the Khomas Football Region Second Division Football clubs’ extra ordinary annual general Meeting (EOAGM) held on 30 September 2023, they passed a vote of no confidence in their executive committee.
Consequently, the Khomas Exco members, including Peter Ndjulu (chairperson), David Morgan (vice-chairperson), Helge Kapuire, Malakia Sheyanena, Gustav Sheetekela, and Abed Kantewa, were relieved of their duties from the Khomas Football Region Second Division exco.
Ironically, Ndjulu sent out an invitational letter calling for an EOAGM scheduled for 28 October while knowing very well there was a coup in motion targeting him and his executive.
An interim committee consisting of Immanuel Boois, Waldheim Tjitunga, and Lazarus Xoagub was tasked with running the league matters and organising a meeting where a substantial interim committee could be elected.
On Saturday, 07 October 2023, at St. Barnabas Primary School in Katutura, 15 out of the 16 clubs gathered at a meeting to appoint an interim committee in the presence of the NFA league administrator, Mabos Vries.
The meeting approved the minutes of its EOAGM and nominated members to represent the region on an interim basis.
Xoagub was elected as chairperson of the interim committee, while Tjitunga is responsible for finance and treasury and Boois for operational matters. Pascal Haingura and Riaan Kandanga were appointed as the two ordinary members of the committee.
The interim committee was tasked with the mandate to organise the Khomas Football Region elective congress, arrange for a full financial audit of the Khomas Football Region, prepare and organise the league kick-off, draft a league season budget (once the NFA communicates dates and logistics), claim equipment, office keys, and access to the bank account and peripherals of the Khomas Football Region once the NFA has pronounced itself.
It was further tasked to report on the previous league campaign, organise a members’ meeting (an ordinary general meeting), arrange for assistance to members with the e-connect system, and normalise Khomas Football Region’s affairs.
At their meeting on Saturday, only clubs that submitted their delegation forms were allowed to attend, but Atlantic Club Football was excused from the meeting as its management was on a team tour in Cape Town.
Impala Chiefs, Nust FC, and Katutura Sport Club submitted their delegation forms but opted to stand outside the venue.
In the meantime, some clubs are said to be contemplating requesting the NFA to press fraud charges against the ousted exco.
Meanwhile, in a letter seen by Nampa on Thursday, 12 October 2023, the NFA interim secretary general, Jochen Traut acknowledged the Khomas Football Region Second Division interim committee and asked them to nominate members who represented them at the NFA extra ordinary meeting that was slated for 14 October 2023, at the NamPower Convention Centre. – Nampa
