DORDABIS – Another top-notch performance by Namibia’s Kia cycling team members Martin Freyer and Michael Pretorius has earned the pair a first and second place respectively in the U-23 age group division in last weekend’s Dordabis race.

It was the 2nd race of this year’s Nedbank series, which is hosted by the Windhoek Pedal Power Club. After his win in the opening race of the season at Döbra three weeks ago, Freyer went to Dordabis, south-east of the capital, oozing confidence.

Together with the likes of Gerhard Mans Jr, Tristan de Lange and Pascall Marggraff, the Kia rider broke away from the main field, leaving the leading group to set the pace from there on and it became crystal clear that a sprint at the end would determine the winner.

Eventually it was Mans Jr. who kept his cool to cross the finish line a mere 0.89 seconds ahead of 2nd placed De Lange. Marggraff was adrift in 3rd, a mere 2 seconds behind the winning pair. Freyer was struck by bad luck as his chain fell off during the final sprint, but nevertheless managed to secure victory in the U-23 age group division.
