Kia’s facelifted Seltos and Picanto make local debut

Kia’s facelifted 2024 Seltos and Picanto models have arrived at Namibian showrooms, and are sure to spark the curiosity of prospective owners with a host of new features and gadgets. 

The entry-level Kia Seltos, sporting a manual gearbox, starts off at N$473 000, while the top of the range 1.5 litre turbo GT version goes for about N$632 000. The Picanto, on the other hand, starts at N$270000 for the one-litre LX version, and goes up to N$336 000 for the automatic 1.2-litre version.  The new Kia Seltos has been broadly redesigned, and now encompasses a bigger ‘tiger nose’ grille and a new tailgate. This signficant update aligns with Kia’s wide range of award-winning crossovers and sports utility vehicles. 

The new Seltos’ prominent grille and unique lighting arrangement is complemented by a futuristic wheel design that exudes a powerful road in the front and back. 

The new Kia Seltos has fully embraced rapidly-evolving technology to provide a truly driver-oriented environment. Kia has stated that this is ideal for drivers who appreciate quality, intuitive features with an edge. 

Meanwhile, at the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity is the redesigned centre fascia, and an integrated curved display with a slim touchscreen. This is complemented by the latest-generation liquid-crystal display, providing precise and clear graphics, and is further enhanced by a an 8-inch heads-up display that projects the most important vehicle information onto the windshield. This means drivers actually never have to take their eyes off the road.

Meanwhile, the new-generation Kia Picanto has taken a major leap forward with new features, offering loads of fun in compact dimensions. 

The Picanto’s new ultra-modern interior offers sophistication with simple, centralised controls offering intuitive operation. The new Picanto also provides wireless charging and a digital key, along with mobile-paired audio as well as a standard bigger, crisper 4.2-inch colour liquid-crystal display (LCD) screen. This is further enhanced by being able to view and select audio settings using an 8-inch floating colour LCD touchscreen that also displays rearview camera images. 

Overall, the reasonably-priced Picanto offers quick, responsive acceleration and enviable fuel economy while powered by an innovative engine.
