By Johanna Nangula

Impressive Events Management is proud to present the CD launch of Sedekia Nakaambo aka Dollar 6, who is one of Namibia’s fast growing Kwaito musicians.

“Mwene Gwomkutsi” is Dollar 6’s second album and will be officially launched on Saturday, August 11 at the Warehouse Theatre. Tickets will be on sale at the door at N$30.

Doors open at 20h00 and the show will kick off at 21h00.

Born in 1982 in a village called Okaku in Oshana Region, Dollar 6 arrived in the music industry in 2001.

Through determination, hard work and a passion for music, Dollar 6 released his first album “I do my way” in 2005 which saw him being nominated twice in the NBC/Sanlam Music Awards in the category Best New Comer in 2005 and the Most Promising Artist in 2006.

During the release of the aforesaid album, 1 000 copies of the CDs were printed and sold out. He became popular with his song “Dollar 6 akala mpano” (in Oshiwambo meaning Dollar 6 stays here, Dollar 6 stays there)
The success of Dollar 6’s first album inspired him to work harder and the release of his second album “Mwene Gwomkutsi” on June 2 this year can bear testimony.

A total of 2 000 copies were printed of which 1 600 copies have already been sold. This is proof that many love his music and he is now well established in the Kwaito music industry.

The 14-track album is hard-core Kwaito and comprises of various gospel tunes. Most importantly is that the messages in the songs tackle social issues faced by our society and thus each song has a meaning.

Made possible by Tafel Lager, the launch will also feature performances by Dollar 6’s friends in music such as Sunny Boy, D-Naff, Uno Boy and Omzoo.
